LLZ Stencils has now been granted permission to use Henri Matisse's iconic illustrations for the re-design and production of Matisse stencils for sale for private use.

I have always loved Matisse's organic idiom and his strong and bold color choices. And with great respect for the legacy of Matisse, these LLZ DESIGN stencils have been created.

Henri Matisse is famous for his carvings that formed the prototypes for the stencil-printed images for the illustrated book Jazz.

Since Matisse insisted on remaining absolutely faithful to the original colors, a specialized stencil company was hired to create each image for each book as a stencil print.
The book editions we can buy today of the book Jazz are however digitally printed, but the original books are out there and are of quite high value.

You now have the opportunity to create your own Matisse-inspired artworks and decorations with the Stencils in the Matisse series at LLZ DESIGN.

The Matisse series is designed so that you can be inspired by Matisse's beautiful organic form and create your very own Matisse-inspired stencil prints.

I have divided each stencil package based on very specific Matisse illustrations. You can look at them and, for example, be inspired. Or completely put together your own artwork or decorations with the stencils.

Matisse used gouache colors which have a beautiful matte surface. You can use the colors you prefer, however, completely watery colors are not very suitable.

Matisse had many of his works made as stencil-printed images. He did not stencil print himself, however, but had a stencil company do it for him.

The LLZ stencils with the Matisse motifs are all made of an extra strong stencil material, which means that in addition to being painting stencils/templates, they can also be used to draw with a thin pencil or spirit maker. Try it and be surprised.
