If you want to take good care of your stencils, you can wash them in soap and water.
1) Place the stencil on a smooth surface. For example in a sink or on a kitchen table. 2) Pour on soap and water. Eg dishwashing liquid. 3) Wash gently with a brush. eg a soft dish brush.
If you use oil paints, it is turpentine you can clean them in. The spray painters can print off excess paint on a newspaper page.
